A Man Cut Into Slices is centered around a dark, first-person jail novel about a young man who makes one irreversible mistake and wakes up in a jail cell, dehydrated and facing a 20-to-life murder charge.
The entire book is published online for free, chapter by chapter, as an immersive experience. That’s where you come in. Readers like you aren’t just observers, they enter the world as “inmates,” explore its cells, and decide how long they should stay.
At the heart of the experience is guilt, power, survival, and what happens when a person is slowly broken into pieces by institutions, guards, other inmates, and most importantly, choices.
Welcome to Quarantine in The Knight Prism Penitentiary!
You can check it out anytime—
and you can always leave!
Welcome to Freedom
Seriously, everything you experience here was created deliberately, with your freedom in mind. Not to make a fast buck, not to lure you into signing up for anything, and definitely not to waste your time.
I know, with every fiber of my being, that this is a beautiful idea—designed to not just help myself grow, but to assist the other inmates of Knight’s Prism Penitentiary to fly free.
The Ten Commandments—what we offer here:
Read the Book for Free: You can read the full book online here at no cost. If the story hits you, there is a pay-what-you-can option. Proceeds not only help fund getting The First Slice into print, they also create a larger pot for the monthly winner of A Riddle Cut Into Slices.
A Riddle Cut Into Slices: Anyone can enter with absolutely no purchase necessary. Simply solve the riddles for the month and send them through the contact form to get out of quarantine and receive your official Knight Prism Penitentiary #.
Once your number is assigned, at the end of the month there will be a drawing where one random “inmate” will receive a whopping 51% of profits generated through BuyMeACoffee.com/ShaneWright for the following month!
(If going through the contact form makes you feel uncomfortable, feel free to contact us through any of the social media links at the bottom of the page.)
Win Prizes With Your Prism I.D.: I have plans for all sorts of giveaways, just for the privilege of your participation.
A Chance To Write The Next Slice: The First Slice is open-source. You’re free to write a sequel to keep the story going in your own creative way. All you need to do is contact us and we will carve out a little slice here on the website for you. (Everyone is free to be unique, and I’m free to refuse anything I think is trolling or A.I. slop.)
Feel The Power of Writing: If you’ve never believed you could be a writer, you have never tried this before! We’ve built a short-story framework you can follow (or break the rules of!). It’s simple enough to get you started, flexible enough to let you find your voice, and meant for anyone who wants to try telling a story.
Potentially Become One of The 23 & We:
There is no such thing as bad art, just an undesirable perspective.
However, 23 of the inmates here who can create desirable perspectives, will be invited to join The 23 & We. Picture this if you will: The next series Slices That Make Up A Man, finds Cillian Knight in prison collecting 23 other inmates wildest stories.
23 chapters.
23 inmates.
Slices That Make Up A Man could be bigger than the bible… or the Mormon Bible anyways, The Book of Mormon.
My Crime: This page contains detailed court documents and other pertinent information about the circumstances that led to the moment I regret every single day. (I know this is going to really suck at times because some people are just nasty about their opinions no matter what, but shedding light on such things allows me to step out of the shadows, and into the light.)
Watch Your Step, Rabbit Holes Are Everywhere: Throughout this site, you’ll find hidden passages, twists, riddles, and tunnels leading deeper into the world of A Mind Cut Into Slices. Follow them at your own risk, and remember if you ever get lost, you can always leave and come back another night.
Write With Me: Click the YouTube link below to join me live, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon, as I write The First Slice in pen and ink, crafting the very first handmade copy of the book. I could use some suggestions on what should be done with it, once finished, considering how valuable hand-made art can be. If you have any ideas, I want to hear them. (It’s going to look so cool! I ordered black sheets of paper and white ink pens!)
X: If you are reading this right here, you are literally one of the first humans to experience the polished version of this project. Thank you very much for your time. I know together we can do something amazing for people with imagination.
People like us.
From one human to another, thank you.
