The Mental Health Message

Hello everyone! It’s been such an interesting couple of days since H.A. went live. It feels great to be finished with creating the website and shop. I put ridiculous amounts of time and energy into learning how to make this as I went. I mean there were so many nights I spent at the shop that it felt like I lived there! Luckily the company that I’m partnered up with, Advanced Promotions, has incredible people who make the time way more enjoyable.

I want to provide some clarity on the mental health aspect of Hedgehog. We are not here to fix any mental health issues, remember to always seek guidance from professionals like : Huntsman Mental Health Institute (Crisis Hotline: 801-587-3000). Hedgehogs contribution to the mental health topic will be through a 5% of profits going to Huntsman Mental Health Institute, and provide mindful reminders of healthy habits that can really snowball positive practices in your life.

It’s simple and subtle like the rest of our theme.

Three Quick Tips

More important than selling shirts is feeling mentally strong.

The world around us is becoming more and more automated, sometimes making your brain feel stagnant because it doesn’t have to work as hard. A stagnant brain can lead to feelings of unfulfillment and a sense that you have no control over your life. You can counteract this negativity in your brain by making a series of intentional, small decisions throughout the day. Here are three tips guaranteed to make you feel stronger and more capable. On the surface, these are three things you already do, but when done with intention, they become much more effective.

  • Breathe

For this exercise put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and breathe through your nose. Myofunctional therapy exercises can help to increase the tone and strength of upper airway muscles, reducing the collapse of the upper airway during sleep.

  • Move

With each heartbeat, arteries carry about 25 percent of your blood to your brain, where billions of cells use the oxygen and fuel your blood carries. When you are thinking hard, your brain may use up to 50 percent of the fuel and oxygen.

  • Drink

Studies show that even mild dehydration, can impair many aspects of brain function.

In a study in young men and women, researchers found that a lack of fluid replenishment impaired both mood and concentration. It also increased the frequency of headaches. They found that fluid loss of 1.6% was detrimental to working memory and increased feelings of anxiety and fatigue.

Feel strong and capable.

Promoting Health Through The Mind-Body Connection

Hello and welcome to the Hedgehog blog! The first thing I want to say is that if you are struggling with severe depression, anxiety, or feelings of intense mood swings often, please check out The Huntsman Mental Health Institute website. They are a very helpful source that provides all sorts of assistance.

My name is Shane Wright and I am the founder of Hedgehog Apparel. My past is very colorful and one of the only things that helped me to survive some very tough trials, was taking care of my mental health. That’s why I want to spread this powerful message, because I’ve been deep in those muddy trenches.

“Promoting health thought he mind-body connection” is the motto and at the core of the message is maintaining a healthy mind by taking care of your physical brain.

Feel strong and capable.
